Our standards – no compromises
Drum roasting – why it makes a difference
The drum roaster roasts gently and evenly. The bean develops its aroma profile through controlled heat application, not through aggressive high-speed roasters that finish in minutes what needs time. The result is a coffee that tastes differentiated: fruitiness stays fruitiness, chocolate stays chocolate. Every variety gets its own roast profile: espresso roasts need body and sweetness, filter coffee roasts stay lighter to preserve transparency and acidity. That is not a formula. That is experience.
Where our beans come from and why that matters
SAMYJU sources green coffee through transparent supply chains: directly from farms and cooperatives whose names and growing regions we know. Africa, Central and South America, Asia and Oceania – four continents, united in every roast. Every variety with traceable origin, fair prices and an aroma profile that shows what the respective growing region is capable of. No anonymous blends, no unclear origin. We buy coffee because we know what we are buying, not because the price is right.
Four reasons for SAMYJU as a roastery
Visit the roastery – experience coffee where it is created
The SAMYJU Coffee Hub in Meerbusch is a roastery and café in one place. Whoever drinks an espresso here, drinks it just a few metres from the drum roaster on which it was roasted. Coffee tastings offer insight into roasting, origin and brewing craftsmanship. Company visits, workshops and personal consultations turn an appointment into an experience that explains what specialty coffee means – without theory, with a cup in hand.
Frequently Asked Questions about the SAMYJU Coffee Roastery
We do not roast stock. We roast to order. The best-before date on the pack shows you exactly how long your coffee will keep.
Drum roasting takes its time; the bean develops its aroma profile slowly and evenly. High-speed roasters (also hot-air roasters) roast in just a few minutes, which can lead to flatter flavour profiles. The difference is noticeable in the cup: more depth, more differentiation, more character.
Packed in aroma-sealed packaging, freshly roasted coffee keeps for 6-12 months. After opening we recommend consuming it within 4-6 weeks and storing it in an airtight, dark and dry place.
