Sustainability is not a label, it is an attitude
Sustainability is not a label you stick on. It is a decision you make every day. When selecting the beans. When roasting. When packaging. When dealing with the people who make this coffee possible.
Authentic from the very beginning
We source our green coffees through importers who maintain direct relationships with the farms. We know the origin of every bean – not just the country, but the region, the farm, often the family.
What sets us apart
We do not buy beans whose origin is unclear. We do not roast coffee that was produced under questionable conditions. We do not promise certifications that we cannot uphold.
Instead of relying on seals that often mean more bureaucracy than impact, we trust in direct relationships and our own standards. That is more demanding. But more honest.
Sustainability as a Process
We do not claim to do everything right. Sustainability is not a state, but a process. We are constantly learning – new packaging solutions, more efficient logistics, better farming methods with our partners.
Frequently Asked Questions about Sustainability at SAMYJU
We source our green coffees through direct trade and work closely with selected farms and producers. The relationships have grown personally and are built for long-term collaboration.
Our coffee bags are made from aluminium-free recyclable materials. Shipping cartons are made from recycled cardboard, filling material from renewable raw materials. We are continuously working on improvements and avoid plastic wherever possible.
We roast on a modern, energy-efficient drum roaster. The roasting exhaust air is filtered, by-products are composted. By roasting in small batches we avoid overproduction and stock surplus.
Choose freshly roasted coffee in whole beans rather than pre-ground – this reduces packaging and waste. Only grind what you need. Use a brewing method without capsules. And look for roasteries that speak transparently about their supply chains.
